A Woman of the World
Mabel Loomis Todd (1856-1932) was fascinated with her next door neighbor, the poet Emily Dickinson. In fact, it was Mabel who first compiled and published Emily's now famous poems. Soon after their 1890 publication, Mabel toured the country promoting them with lectures and readings.
Our play takes place at one such lecture, late in Mabel's life. When the lines of carefully crafted stories begin to blur into the truths in need of being told. Mabel, it turns out, was not the woman she seemed to be. In fact, she was so very much more!
