“Subverting Black Masculinities” is a reading and discussion on the many conceptions of masculinity present in literature and film today. The reading pulls from Prince Shakur’s (AIR) own writings on black masculinity in film, literature, and history, as well as excerpts from his debut memoir. After a brief primer on the subject, Shakur opens the floor for a broader conversation on social justice movements, news events, and icons throughout black history.
