In this week's edition of Flashback Friday, we recognize the proud and strong history of Key West and the Armed Services on this very special Memorial Day weekend. We salute our servicemen and women - past, present and future. We also recognize the sacrifices by the new front line workers in the fight against COVID, those who have given their lives to fight this silent enemy.
Key West's own Mark Ebonboch was instrumental in the making of this week's film - and helping to bring it to KWFF. We had a great time with Mark, Director Paul Sanchez, Producers Lisa Poggi and Don Anderson, Tom Berenger and his wife, Cory Glover, and the rest of the crew!
A quick announcement:
If you watched the above video, you will see that Paul has graciously donated a very rare and special Platoon movie poster signed by cast and crew. On behalf of the Brothers in Arms team, and KWFF, we are going to auction off this rare poster and donate the money to the COVID-19 charity of the winner's choice. Please email email@example.com for instructions to purchase your raffle tickets or go directly to the site here. We will announce the winner next Flashback Friday, so make sure that you are registered to receive the weekly newsletter!
A note from Lisa and Don:
When Paul realized it had been almost 30 years since he was in Platoon, his first film, he was inspired to direct Brothers in Arms as a homage to the experience of Platoon. When the other cast members all made time to tell us their stories, we knew we had something special. (I hope you’ll check it out - if you loved Platoon, you will love Brothers in Arms!) We were so excited when we heard we were going to Key West Film Festival! We weren’t disappointed, it was far and away the best festival we did - and I’m not even talking about the weather. The support we got from the team was fantastic. They took such good care of us and made us feel welcome from start to finish! Screening at the beautiful Historic San Carlos was so special- it was packed. So many great moments - winning the audience award for best feature, and surprising Tom Berenger with an appearance by the little girl from the Village Scene - all grown up. One thing’s for sure - we won’t forget KWFF!
