EXPLORING GENDER & SEXUAL IDENTITY THROUGH MUSICAL THEATRE
with STEPHEN KITSAKOS
This class is offered twice, you may either sign up for:
Thursday Meet Ups (Apr 16, Apr 30 & May 14, 4-5:30pm)
or
Friday Meet Ups (Apr 17, May 1 & May 15, 6-7:30pm)
Limit 12 students per class
An examination of three seminal works of theatre, explored through both a socio-cultural and socio-political lens, that departed from traditional structure by introducing innovations in the craft of libretto, music & lyrics.
STUDENTS WILL STUDY:
CABARET (1966)
HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH (1998)
FUN HOME (2013)
Each work examines the sexual lives of its principal characters using the conventions of musical theatre to edify, educate and entertain. Methodology includes reading and streaming content in advance of each class.
This class is being offered free of charge, however if it is within your means, a donation of $50-$100 would be greatly appreciated.
