JONATHAN FREEMAN is the voice of Jafar in Disney’s 1992 animated feature Aladdin, a role he has been recreating since 2014 on Broadway. Other Disney Broadway shows include Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast. He has voiced characters for the Disney channel’s American Dragon, Lilo & Stitch and Teamo Supremo. Jonathan was nominated for a Tony Award in 1993 for his portrayal of the Headwaiter in She Loves Me. Other Broadway shows include The Producers, 42nd Street, On the Town, How To Succeed in Business, Platinum and Sherlock Holmes (RSC). New York appearances include the Irish Rep, Manhattan Theatre Club, City Center Encores and several Carnegie Hall concerts. Jonathan has worked regionally at The La Jolla Playhouse, The Houston Grand Opera, The Williamstown and Berkshire Theatre Festivals and the Seattle Rep. Television appearances include roles in Too Big to Fail, Law & Order, Gossip Girl, Shining Time Station and Remember Wenn. Films include Forever Lulu, The Hoax, The Ice Storm and the 2017 Oscar nominated documentary Life Animated. Jonathan has been enjoying a “virtual residency” conducting Master Classes in Musical Theatre for one of several universities with which he is associated.
